The aim of the course is the study, the understanding, the reflexion and the dialectical debate, by students, of the diverse artistical manifestations and their evolution in the medieval christian art in the Iberian Peninsula. The teacher will develop the following topics or lessons: 1. The classic inheritance: Paleo-christian art and Hispano-roman art of Visigothic epoch. 2. Pre-romanesque art. 3. The first Romanesque art: From year 1000 to 1075. 4. Plenary Romanesque: 1075-1150. 5. Breakup of the Romanesque: 1150-1250. 6. Summit and expansion of the Gothic: XIII century. 7. Gothic. Crisis of the XIV century and mediterranean activity. 8. Gothic. The XV and XVI centuries. Supported by the teacher's lectures and audiovisual means, the students will deepen in the knowledge of the different facets of the Spanish medieval christian art, focusing on the chronology and geographical location, the materials, the techniques and procedures, the plastic agents and composition outlines, the artist's social situation, and, especially, the iconography and the iconographic programs of great plastic groups elaborated by the main masters of the time.
