| OBJECTIVES: The aim of this subject is to introduce the student to the understanding of drama in the Golden Age. Study of texts, evolution of scenic practice in the period, theater infrastructure, audience, scenery and actors. SYLLABUS 1.Drama as an entertainment. 2. From the "Officium pastorum" to the Renaissance "égloga". 3. Bartolomé Torres Naharro. 4. Religious drama. 5. The professionalization: the actor-authors. Lope de Rueda. 6. The university and school theater. 7. The tragic attempts. 8. The Valencian school and the first formulation of comedy. 9. From the "paso" to the "entremés" Cervantes "entremeses". 10. The New Art of writing comedies. Lope de Vega: comedies and dramas. Some authors from the Lope cycle: Ruiz de Alarcón and Tirso de Molina. 11. Calderón de la Barca: comedies, tragedies, "autos sacramentales". |
