Theoretical teaching: Dissertations with the aid of slide presentations (graphs and schemes) are used to summarize the fundamental knowledge of the subject.
Practical teaching: Examples of different groups of cosmetics are prepared by the students.

Met. Avaluació
Laboratory skills are graded by a continuous evaluation and theoretical knowledge is tested by means of a written exam.

Continguts
The different classes of cosmetics (skin products, bath preparations, shaving preparations, foot preparations, teeth and dental products, ..) are established. The study of different subjects is then accomplished:
- structure and physiology of the skin and attached organs, which are the target organs of cosmetics
- anaesthetic phenomena and dysfunctions that can be improved by the application of cosmetics.
- Main types of substances used in the formulation of cosmetics
- Manufacture procedures, considering GMP and GCP.
- Controls to guarantee the technical and safety conditions
Objetius
Dermopharmacy deals with the design, production and control of cosmetic formulations in compliance with the present Directive of Cosmetics of the European Community. So that, it studies the skin, its different glands and hair follicles (based on the previous knowledge from the other subjects as Physiology, Biochemistry, Biology, Toxicology and Biopharmaceutics), the properties of the raw materials employed (considering both of the active ingredients and vehicles), the production methodology of cosmetics and the use of them.
