The purpose of the subject is to make students acquire the basic knowledge on the iconographic and iconological methods and learn how to put them into practice when approaching the study of any artistical work. Their employment requires a previous base of interdisciplinar information that could hardly be taught during a quarter. The purpose is not, therefore, to show and to identify thousands of images that have had a certain function or significance along the history of arts, but to teach the main keys for the application of these methods and the wide possibilities they provide in the historical-artistical study. Besides, we intend to introduce the main international and national representatives of these trends which have taken root so well in our university. |
