| To give the student the necessary knowledge to recognize and distinguish the byzantine works of art. To provide a panoramic vision of the Byzantine culture from their political, religious, economic, etc. foundations. To analyze those historical aspects that affect the character of the work of art projecting on it the mentalities of the society that produces them. To underline the inter-influences with the western cultures. To give an introduction to the iconographic-iconological reading of the Byzantine works of art. To provide students with a specialized bibliography that allows them an in-depth self-study of the aspects of the programme which mostly interest them. |
