The aim of the course is the in-depth study of the history of Greek and Roman sculpture. This is an optional subject that supplements the knowledge acquired by the student in the subject Classical Arts. Thorough analysis of the Greek archaism, the work of Phidias and the Hellenistic sculpture, with a chapter dedicated to the Greek presence in the Iberian Peninsula. Next, we approach the topics related to the Roman sculpture, with stress on the imperial portraits and the development of the official relief in the Low Roman Empire stage. Finally, the subject approaches the main models of Roman sculpture in Hispania. |
