Fundamentally, by classical cinema we understand the cinema belonging to the Golden Age of Hollywood and its derivations in other cinematographies. In this course students will study the production means and the representation of North American cinema since the end of the silent-film period and the consolidation of the pattern in the thirties, as well as the system of the ôbig studiosö. The second part of the subject fundamentally focusses on the different genre, with special emphasis on the classical genre of Hollywood: the Western, the musical, the comedy, black cinema and melodrama. All the classes integrate audiovisual material. |
