The subject encompasses the aesthetic expression of peninsular Islam in the period between the conquest in 711 and the last manifestations Mudejar art. After an introductory topic where the characteristics of the civilization are outlined, the program goes on to develop five topics ordered chronologically and that coincide with both the political and cultural stages of Al-Andalus: The epochs of califal and emiral; the taifa kingdoms; the periods of North African dominance (Almoravid and Almohades); the Granada nazarí; and Mudejar art. In each topic we will study the manifestations of the architecture as well as the plastic and applied arts, paying special attention to ceramics, metal-work and ivory-work. |
