The subject History of European Baroque Art II studies the genesis and development of Baroque artistic expression in Europe during the eighteenth century, (except for Spain, as this is a separate subject within History of the Art). Baroque art in France, Netherlands, England, Germany, Central Europe, Russia and Scandinavia will be studied. Baroque art in the XVIIIth century is a natural consequence of the great French masters of the Louis XIVth period, expression of the glory and power of the monarchy, transformed by the lighter and more sensual spirit of the Regency and Louis XV periods. |
