The aim of the course is the study, the understanding, the reflexion and the dialectical debate, by students, of the diverse artistical manifestations and their evolution in the Baroque period, during the XVII and XVIII centuries. The teacher will develop the following topics or lessons: 1. France: architecture. 2. Figurative arts in France: painting. 3. Figurative arts in France: sculpture. 4. Catholic Low Countries. 5. Holland. 6. Central Europe. Supported by the teacher's lectures and audiovisual means, the students will deepen in the knowledge of the European Baroque, focusing on the chronology and geographical location, the materials, the techniques and procedures, the plastic agents and composition outlines, the artist's social situation, and, especially, the iconography and the iconographic programs of great plastic groups elaborated by the main masters of the time.
