a) To introduce students to the characteristics and specificities of historical knowledge considered as scientific knowledge. b) To analyze basic materials that constitute historical matter: society and key sociological concepts, facts and historical processes, sources and types, memory. c) To analyze the scientific method applied to social sciences and historical explanation, to define the work field and objectives historical studies, to introduce the student to historical investigation methods and techniques . d) To introduce students to "the historian's workshop" (text commentary, visits to files and libraries, oral interviews, to elaborate and present projects...). e) To introduce students to historical explanations, with special emphasis on the XIX and XX centuries, reading and commenting on some monographic themes. |
