The subject studies the urban system in Europe in the Middle Ages, from the consolidation of cities in the XIII century until the forming of states in the XV century. The study includes analysis of demographic, economic and fiscal policies of the European city of that period, as well as the historical processes in forming urban oligarchies, institutional organizations, social and ideological factors and conflicts characteristic of those historical processes. The theoretical content is explained and discussed using bibliography and sources used by historians. The starting point for research will be the study of documents in the Valencian archives, one of the richest and complete sources within Europe. |
