The course aims to offer a rigorous, updated and plural historiographic vision related to the process of socio-political modernization of Spain between 1868 and the year 2000. With this goal in mind we will analyze the advances, continuities and setbacks that characterize the different waves of democratisation; how governmental elites act, the phenomena of political socialization of the masses and the waves of conflict. The focus combines, on one hand, historical analysis as a contribution to political theory and renewed social history. And, on the other hand, compared history placing special emphasis on the trajectory of countries like Great Britain, Italy and France. |
