Main intellectual, scientific and religious issues of modern times are approached, emphasising on the following: A) Their novelty and divergence regarding inherited culture. B) Links between different renovation movements. C) Dead ends. D) The meaning of ômodernityö. The course focuses on social history of culture and, therefore, it underlines the impact or social reflection of: cultural institutionalization, scientific and technological development, culture as a consumer product, the appearance of a non specialized reading public, etc. |
