Continguts
This course has been prepared from the point of view of the Western Christianity: points, problems, areas of investigation, interests and traditions. It takes into account that the history of the philosophy should not be the history of the philosophy developed inside Christianity. When pursuing a certain familiarity with medieval texts, special attention will be given to texts of Saint Augustine and Saint Thomas, not only to characterize their different ways of rhetoric expression, but also to highlight the conflicts and tension inherit in these religious scholars, as well as the reasons of faith and mysticism as solutions to conflicts felt by both thinkers. Special attention will be given to the use of metaphors and their use in the justification to speak of God. The question being if the language created to speak of the simple things is not simply "metaphor" when it is used to speak of God.
