It is assumed that students have already taken "History of Philosophy in the Nineteenth Century" previous to this unit of study. Theme I: Philosophy of consciousness and hermeneutics of the unconscious . (a) Dilthey as a starting point: the understanding of experiences and philosophy as Weltanschauung (b) Husserl: the constitution of sense as Eidetic knowledge; philosophy as pure science of essences. (C) Freud: the interpretation of dreams as hermeneutics of the unconscious. Theme II: The critical theory. (I): Lukacs: History and class conciousness. (b) Adorno: from "Actuality of philosophy" to "Negative dialectics" . (c) Horkheimer: traditional theory and critical theory. (d) Habermas: the linguistic turn of the critical theory. (e) Wellmer: critical theory at the present time. Theme III: Phenomenology and Hermeneutics. Heidegger: Critics of philosophy of consciousness and "destruction" of western Metaphysics. Theorie of truth as aletheia. Gadamer: "truth" versus "method". Theme IV: Wittgenstein?s Tractatus: Its relationship with logical positivism. Philosophical Investigations. Theme V: Merleau-Ponty and phenomenology of perception. Sarte: existentialism as humanism. Foucault: genealogy of discourse as criticism. The metaphysics of presence: Derrida.
