-Theory: Unit 1: The discourse of scientific and technical English. Its evolution in Europe since the birth of modern science. Unit 2: Genre and register: what can they bring to classify, analyse and translate scientific and technical texts. Practice: A variety of 7 differents texts in scientific and technical English will be translated in group during the class sessions. Some parallel texts (English/Spanish) will be analysed from a translation viewpoint. |
Objetius |
To train students in the translation of scientific and technical texts, through a variety of disciplines, mainly with English as a source language and Spanish and/or Catalan as a target language. Both a theoretical and a practical approach to technolects in English and in Spanish through genre and register frameworks will be first provided. |
