ESSENTIAL OBJECTIVES OF THE SUBJECT AND THE COURSE: A monographical study of XVII century theater characteristics in theoretical terms (starting from the pattern settled down by the Lopesca generation in The New Art of Making Comedies) and in practical terms, paying attention to Lope de Vega complementary models and of Calderón de la Barca, drama representative of the called second generation, fully Baroque. The dramatical proposals of the essential dramatic genres will be designed (comedy, tragedy, sacramental acts). The method will look for a balance between the generational and historical focus and the critical-stylistic-dramatical aspects by means of a detained reading of the works proposed.

2. Critical reading of the New Art of Making Comedies of Lope de Vega time. Doctrinal and pragmatic development.
