Introduction
This material is taken from within certain areas of the degree in Hispanic Philology in a particular manner

The concepts taught in this module offer a basic theoretical support and a training in the different investigatory trends of Spanish Sociolinguistics. Three lines of investigation will be undertaken within those lines, the most significant aspects in the area of speech will be studied in order to allow students to undertake a project on one of these aspects which is of interest to them.

Objectives:
The objectives of this module are the following:
1. The undersanding of theory and methodology fundamental to Sociolinguisitics and to be able to differentiate it from other disciplines.
2. Observe the relationship between different varieties of Spanish, social structure and learn to apply the applications derived from this relationship.
3. Remind students of the basic concepts and trends of current sociological investigation with a special focus on the Spanish language.
