OBJECTIVES: The focus of this subject is reflected by the subtitle TOPICS AND PROBLEMS OF LATIN-AMERICAN LITERATURE and its main aim is to introduce the student to the basic nucleus of Latin-American history and literature. We will briefly study the main milestones of their political history as a framework for their cultural processes, such as the european conquest and the imposition of a dominant culture, the colonial independence and the projection of natural literatures, the modernization of the continent in the XIX century and the creation of an intellectual model, etc.
This subject also aims to distance the student from the critical and literary texts to acknowledge other discursive problem:. From methodological cuttings that theorize on Latin-American literature to the ideological implications that all projected writing contains.
