The subjects objective is the philological study of Greek dramatic texts, in particular those of comedy and tragedy. Special attention will either be paid to those works and passages that possess a special entity, and have marked a landmark in any aspect of dramatic production or that allow us through them to introduce questions regarding the Greek period that will help us to understand the historical and literary era and the work which is being studied. The methodology will be, in consequence, an attentive and reflexive reading of passages of a tragedy (Medea of Eurípides) and a comedy (Aristophanes' tesmoforiantes) articulating those elements that can be of some use for the better understanding of the texts.
Throughout the course themes will be developed in class that serve as an introduction to texts and that can facilitate the understanding and commentary dramatic texts. The teacher will indicate throughout the course those readings and works that should be read and consulted.
