Continguts

The compulsory module of Law to obtain the Diploma in Social Labour at the University of Valencia, in both its theoretical and practical contents, requires a short introduction to Law. We will then focus in Social Security Laws in Spain û with no doubt the subject we most commonly refer to in the practice of Social Work.

The pedagogical objectives of this module are the following:
1. Knowledge of what Law is, how it is created, who is legitimated to create it and which its social functions are.

2.- Study the structure of Law from its current legal framework.

3. û Knowledge and fundamentals of those juridical institutions with a direct impact on the practice of social work: Constitutional Laws, Family Laws, Labour Laws and notions of Administrative Laws. Social Security Laws, axial subject in the social protection systems.

4. û Enable the student to solve the simplest Social Security problems outlined by the users of the Social Services, directing people towards the appropriate institutions and organs.

5. û Put into practice the use of legal texts and the search for juridical concepts to familiarize the student with the technical-juridical language commonly used in the Social Security institutions.

6. û Apply the theoretical knowledge to the social reality, by means of debates that induce meditation on the situations of the social environment.
