Continguts
This subject begins whit an introduction, where we try to introduce the idea of public regulation, its different forms and the historical evolution. We will strees the distinction between Economic Public Regulation and Social Public Regulation.
In the next two parts we will develope Social Regulation. First, regulation related with the problem of externalities is treated, and ilustrated with enviromental regulation. Secondly, we will analyse the relationship between regulation and merit goods. We will apply these ideas to drug regulation (including legal and illegal ones).
Third part is devoted to Economic Regulation. Here we study the problem of natural monopoly, and the problem of some industries, as electricity or telecommunications.
Objetius
The aim of this course is to deeply analyse the problems derived from public regulation. To do so, we combine classical oral exposition and a practical work around some present topics.
