The main objective of this subject is to offer a panoramic view of the development of economic thought in the last two hundred years, from the birth of the classic period of the Economy that usually dates from the appearance of the Wealth of Nations of Adam Smith in 1776 until the peak and the decline of the Keynism in the 20th century. The objective of this course is, therefore, to guide the student in this history with the purpose of enriching their understanding of the contemporary economy.

The program of the subject is the following:

1. the origins of the modern economy.
2. Adam Smith: from moral philosophy to political economy.
3. the development of the classic economy: Thomas Robert Malthus, David Ricardo and John Stuart Mill,
4.Revision of the Classic Economy.
5. Karl Marx: Analysis and criticism of capitalism.
6. German historicism and American institutionalism
7. the revolution : Jevons and Menger.
8. marginalists and neoclassicists: Walras and Marshall.
9. John Maynard Keynes and the uncertainty of capitalism.
10. Peak and Decline of the Keynesism
