| The objective of this course is introduction students to knowledge of those aspects that on one hand help him to understand the reasons for public intervention in the economy and, on the other, outline the big problems faced by the public sector at the present time. PROGRAM: Unit 1: THE PUBLIC SECTOR: ECONOMIC CHARACTERIZATION. Unit 2: POSSIBILITIES AND LIMITATIONS OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR (I): THEORY OF SHORTCOMINGS OF THE MARKET. Unit 3: POSSIBILITIES AND LIMITATIONS OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR (II): EXTERNAL EFFECTS, PUBLIC GOODS AND GUARDIAN NECESSITIES. | The objective of this course is to introduce students in the knowledge of those aspects that help them to understand why State is participating in the economy and also show them with the big problems that public sector is facing at present. |
