Bibliografia
This course of Spanish Economy, has a key theoretical reference in which the authors approached in a systematic way most of the subjects of the program; this book is José Luis GARCÍA DELGADO y Rafael MYRO (directores) (2005): Lecciones de Economía Española. Editorial Thomson-Civitas, (6ª ed.),, that constitutes the basic bibliography of the lectures. On the other hand, we use intensively in classes Andrés J. PICAZO (coord.) y otros (2003): Prácticas de Economía Española. Editorial Civitas.
Continguts
The development of the subject is made through several parts:
a) The first one offers a general perspective of the stages and characteristics of industrialization in Spain as frame for the study of the process of economic growth and structural change in the Spanish economy since 1960´s. The analysis begins with a long-run perspective in which the evolution of the main determining factors of growth stands out. It follows with the study of the main imbalances and the macroeconomic policies to confront them, emphasizing their instrumentation after the arrival of the European Economic and Monetary Union.
b) Secondly, the productive sectors are covered through the analysis of their basic structural characteristics and interconnection with the rest of the economic system.
c) Finally, the institutional aspects of the Spanish economy are boarded. We make the analysis of the labour market, the role and configuration of the Public Sector and financial system in Spain. We conclude with the topic concerning income distribution in its different dimensions.
Objetius
The main aim in this course is the study and understanding of recent transformations in the Spanish economy, which had led a period of economic growth and important structural change. We also cover the current characteristics of the Spanish economy, and make special emphasis both in productive sectors and in institutional aspects such as the labour market or the public sector.
