Perspectives on Structure and Mechanism in Organic Chemistry F.A. Carroll, Ed. Brooks/Cole Publishing Company, 1998 Advanced Organic Chemistry. Part A Mechanism and Theory in Organic Chemistry Physical Organic Chemistry |
Continguts |
Objectives: First to analyze and compare all structural theories on organic compounds and reaction media seen in previous courses. Secondly the methods used in the determination of the mechanisms of reactions will be studied, both theoretically (by means of calculations) and by ways of experiments. Finally the mechanisms of some selected organic reactions will be described and how they were determined. Content: Topic 1. - CHEMICAL BONDS AND MOLECULAR STRUCTURE. Topic 2. - CONFORMATIONAL ESTERIC AND STEREOELECTRONIC ASPECTS Topic 3. - REACTION MEDIA. Topic 4. - DETERMINATION OF REACTION MECHANISMS. Topic 5. - ACID-BASE CATALYSIS OF ORGANIC REACTIONS. Topic 6. - PERICYCLE REACTIONS. Topic 7. - PHOTOCHEMICAL REACTIONS. |
