Objectives:
In this laboratory module it is sought to approach new experimental aspects of Organic Chemistry, such as the study of stereo selectivity as a chemical process, or the chemical selectivity of transformation lapses of a polifunctional compound . Likewise, two procedures will be completed for the construction of C-C bonds and an example will be carried out studying how the result of a reaction depends on the experimental conditions such as variable kinetics, thermodynamics, control etc. Finally, students will proceed to isolating natural products with the double-objective of showing them how nature is an inexhaustible source of organic products, and also with the expectation that the student deepens their knowledge of chromotographic techniques.

Practical Program

1.-investigation of Beckmanns stereoselectivity of conversion.

2. preparation of the Venilbenzoic Acid 4 (Time: 2 sessions)

3.Chemical selectivity in the reduction of 3-nitroacetophenone (Time: 2
sessions)

4. isolation and purification of licopene in tomatoes (Time: 2 sessions)

5. thermodynamic and kinetic control of a chemical reaction. (Time: 1 session)

6. Cycloaddition:1,3-dipolar for the preparation of 3,5-Diphenilisooxazoline

7.-obtaining of azelaic acid from castor oil
